I Am Not a Robot

These wires connecting gear to motor? Veins
or arteries, I never could tell
one from the other. Good
and bad blood looks the same to me.

Nobody programmed me to destroy
your world, and even when I overheat,
I have yet to fire lasers from my eyes.
Remove the screws,

take apart my plastic casing.
Take a look inside and see
bare fuses, current sparking; this
is where you'll find me. I'm alive;

I'm not a robot or a slickly oiled machine,
just another person
with blinking lights for brains
and empty batteries where my heart should be.
